Wellness Policy
The current BUSD Wellness Policy, as well as the triennial assessment of the District Wellness Policy completed in June 2021, are below.
Competitive Foods
Competitive foods in a child nutrition program are foods that are sold during the school day AND are not part of the federal reimbursable school breakfast or lunch programs.
Competitive foods must meet federal and state guidelines. Those guidelines consider the school day to begin at midnight and end 30 minutes after the official school day ends. Any foods sold during that time period MUST follow the competitive food rules attached below.
Smart Snacks
Smart Snacks are the national nutrition standards for foods and beverages sold outside of the federal reimbursable school meal programs during the school day.
Use this tool to assist in determining if an item is Smart Snack compliant.
