Dear BUSD Families,
Today it was necessary to evacuate Sullivan Middle School, Bonsall High School, and Bonsall Elementary School due to fires in and around the Bonsall community. I am pleased to report that all students and staff were evacuated safely. Many students and staff evacuated to Fallbrook High School, which was recommended by local law enforcement and fire officials. I have been in continual communication with the local fire department and staff from the San Diego County Office of Education.
Based on the impact of the fires in the Bonsall School District, SCHOOL IS CLOSED FOR ALL BONSALL SCHOOLS December 8, 2017. The following topics are some of the important considerations when determining to close school and when to resume school: air quality, ash and debris, traffic and transportation, power issues, and the impact on staff who may be impacted and not able to work.
Please know that I will remain in communication with police, fire, and county staff over the weekend. I will provide all parents and staff with an update on Sunday, to communicate whether school will resume on Monday, December 11
