Transfers for the 2024-2025 School Year

The Interdistrict Attendance Permit transfer window for the 2024-2025 school year will open on March 1, 2024. Please use this link for the Interdistrict application.

For students who live outside the Bonsall Unified School District boundaries and wish to attend a BUSD school, please use the Interdistrict Attendance Permit application. Please note all applications must originate from the student’s District of Residence. If the release is authorized by the District of Residence, the application will be forwarded directly to Bonsall Unified School District. Applications will be placed on pending status with BUSD until actual district enrollment numbers are available. Parents of applicants will be contacted via email with a response to their interdistrict transfer request.

For students who wish to be released from Bonsall Unified School District to attend a school in another district, please fill out, sign, scan, and email your Interdistrict Attendance Permit application to [email protected]. Applications will be considered, and parents of applicants will be contacted via email with a response to their interdistrict transfer request.  

The timeline for response on outgoing interdistrict transfer applications will begin after the conclusion of the current school year and continue until no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction for the 2023-2024 school year per Ed Code.

The Intradistrict Transfer window for the 2024-2025 school year will open on February 1, 2024.  ​Please use this link for the Intradistrict application. 

The form is for families who live in the Bonsall Unified School District boundaries and would like to request their student attend a BUSD school other than their school of residence. Applications will be placed on pending status until actual district enrollment numbers are available. Parents of applicants will be contacted via email with a response to their intradistrict transfer request.

Transfer decisions are made by the Executive Director of Student Services, not the school sites.

In accordance with Ed Code 46600, the Bonsall USD BP 5117, and the Bonsall USD AR 5117, adopted by the Board of Trustees on January 18, 2023, state the agreement and the regulations it shall abide by in issuing a permit for a student's attendance outside the district of residence for Bonsall Unified School District. 

District Notifications

Any written notice to parents regarding a school district’s decision on a request for interdistrict transfer shall conform to the translation requirements of Section 48985 and may be provided using any of the following methods: (1) Regular mail, (2) Electronic format if the parent provides an email address, (3) By any other method normally used to communicate with parents in writing.
