Indian Education – Bonsall Unified School District

Bonsall Unified School District is committed to honoring and supporting the unique strengths, cultures, and identities of our Native American students and families. Through ongoing partnership with the Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Native Learner Advisory Committee (NLAC), the district works to increase communication, build meaningful opportunities for listening, and collaborate on ways to best support the academic, social, and emotional success of Native learner

Native Learner Advisory Committee (NLAC)

The NLAC serves as a bridge between families, the Tribe, and the school district. NLAC meetings are held at the Pala Administration Building, 12196 Pala Mission Road, Pala, creating a welcoming community-centered location for families to gather and share their voices. Meetings provide space for shared decision-making, active consultation, and discussion of student needs and district programs. Key focus areas include attendance and engagement trends, academic progress in English language arts and mathematics, student supports, discipline data, and strengthening Native student voice and identity.

Title VI

Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native Education. The Title VI Indian Education Program provides supplementary education support to approximately 120 district students of documented American Indian ancestry. The district's program provides additional learning activities as well as cultural education to connect students with their Native history, cultures, and traditions, instilling pride and confidence to achieve challenging academic standards.
